Ways We Serve Randolph County

Our Goals

  1. To promote public awareness of issues pertaining to persons with disabilities throughout the year and act as an advocate for the disabled 
  2. To advise all Randolph County local municipalities on issues pertaining to persons with disabilities  
  3. To provide a regular forum for the discussion of issues pertaining to persons with disabilities    

Our Community Activities

  1. Ice Cream Social to celebrate the hard work and efforts of the Monarch-Asheboro participants @ Grapevine Gift Shop held each year in June/July 
  2. Arlie Culp Zoo Day @ NC Zoo held each year in May 
  3. Disabilities Awareness Day & Parade held in October 
  4. Feasting with Friends is a full meal for Randolph County disabled persons & their family held in November  
  5. Christmas Luncheon & Celebration for the workers @ Randolph Vocational Workshop, Inc. held each year in December    

Our Annual Awards

In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month the Randolph County Mayors Committee accepts nominations for the Audrey & Jim Harriman Outstanding Employee of the Year and the Employer of Year. Applications are accepted from the community and judged by a special selection committee. Awards are presented in October. 

Our Funding

The Randolph County Mayors Committee for Disabled Persons operates our programs with private and corporate donations as well as grant allocations.
